Black Figs
Fioroni neri, often also called purple fioroni or Bursa fioroni, are a variety of fig that is distinguished by its dark purple or black skin. These fioroni are known for their juicy and sweet flesh, ranging from red to purple, and for their rich and concentrated flavor.
The consistency of fioroni neri is soft and slightly grainy, with a taste that can recall honey, berries or jam, depending on the ripeness and variety. These fioroni are very appreciated both for fresh consumption and for use in different culinary preparations, such as jams, desserts, appetizers and savory dishes.
From a nutritional point of view, Fioroni neri are a good source of fiber, vitamins (in particular vitamin B6 and K) and minerals such as potassium, magnesium and calcium. They are also rich in natural antioxidants, including polyphenols and flavonoids.
The Fioroni neri grow best in warm, dry climates, and their harvest season varies depending on climate and location. They are a versatile fruit that adds a touch of natural sweetness and a unique flavor to any dish in which they are incorporated.
