Lettuce “Lollo Blonde”
The “Lollo Biondo” and “Lollo Verde” are two very popular lettuce varieties, known for their unique shape and delicate flavor.
Lollo Biondo has curled and jagged leaves of a light green color, tending to golden yellow, from which derives the name “blond”. Lollo Verde, on the other hand, has similar leaves but a darker and more intense green.
Both varieties are appreciated for their crunchy texture and for their delicately sweet and slightly nutty taste. The curled leaves give these lettuces a very decorative look, making them a popular choice for salads and presentation dishes.
From a nutritional point of view, like other lettuces, Lollo Biondo and Lollo Verde are sources of vitamin A and vitamin K, and contain a good amount of water, making them refreshing and moisturizing. They are also low-calorie and high in fiber.
The ease of cultivation and resistance to low temperatures make Lollo Biondo and Lollo Verde varieties very appreciated by growers. They are versatile vegetables that can be used in a wide range of dishes, from appetizers to side dishes.
