Kohlrabi

Cavolo Rapa, also known as German turnip or kohlrabi, is a vegetable peculiar to the Brassicaceae family, the same as cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower. It is characterized by a large round bulb at the base of which long and thin leaves grow. This bulb, which can be green or purple in color, is the edible part of kohlrabi.

The taste of kohlrabi is sweet and delicate, with a crunchy texture reminiscent of cauliflower and turnip. It can be eaten raw or cooked. Raw, it is great in salads or as a snack cut into sticks, thanks to its crunchy texture and fresh flavor. Cooked, you can boil, roast, steam, or add to soups and stews, where it becomes softer and takes on a slightly sweeter flavor.

Nutritionally, kohlrabi is a good source of vitamin C and fiber. It also contains significant amounts of B vitamins and minerals such as potassium and iron. It is low in calories, making it a great choice for balanced and healthy diets.

Kohlrabi is easy to grow and adapts to different climates, making it available in many markets throughout the year. With its versatility and pleasant taste, it is an excellent ingredient to diversify and enrich the daily diet.
