Courgettes

Zucchini, also known as courgette in some regions, is a type of summer vegetable belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family, the same as melons, cucumbers and watermelons. They are very popular in the kitchen for their versatility and delicate flavor.

Zucchini have an elongated shape similar to that of cucumbers and smooth skin that can vary in color from dark green to light green, and sometimes can have yellow shades. The pulp inside is tender and moist, with a delicate and slightly sweet taste, which makes it an ingredient suitable for a wide range of dishes.

Zucchini are extremely versatile and can be eaten both raw and cooked. They are popular in salads, sauteed, grilled, roasted, or used in soups and stews. They are also commonly used in pasta dishes, risottos, omelettes and as a base for stuffed zucchini. In addition, zucchini can be transformed into vegetable “noodles” or used in baked goods, such as bread and cakes.

From a nutritional point of view, zucchini are a good source of vitamins, in particular vitamin C, vitamin K and some B vitamins. They also contain minerals such as potassium and are rich in water and fiber, which makes it a great choice for a healthy, balanced diet.

Zucchini are easy to grow and have a fast growing cycle, which makes it a popular vegetable among domestic gardeners. They are widely available in supermarkets and farmers markets during the summer and early autumn months.
